Prop. 84 IRWM 2014 Drought Grant

The Proposition 84 Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) 2014 Drought Grant provided funding from the Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control, River and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006 to GWMA to assist in financing projects associated with the Gateway Integrated Regional Water Management Plan.  GWMA was awarded a grant in the amount of $3,941,966 to assist the cities of Cerritos and Signal Hill with drought related projects.

City of Cerritos (Cerritos/Forest Lawn Cypress Recycled Water Project) – This Project extended the Cerritos Recycled Water System to Forest Lawn Cemetery and converted the existing Cemetery irrigation system from potable to recycled water.

City of Signal Hill (Signal Hill Advanced Groundwater Wellhead Treatment Project) – This project provided a capacity treatment plant rated for 1,2000 gallons per minute or approximately 1,450 acre-feet per year, allowing the City to obtain a new potable water source with treatment from an otherwise unusable groundwater source, creating an opportunity to meet existing water demand with local water supplies, treat the water for color to below the MCL, and reduce the City’s reliance on purchasing imported SWP water.
