Prop. 84 Stormwater Grant

The Gateway Water Management Authority (GWMA) was acting as the lead agency, overseeing and administering the Proposition 84 grant. Eleven (11) GWMA member cities (Bell Gardens, Downey, Lynwood, Norwalk, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, Signal Hill, South Gate, Vernon and Whittier) participated in the grant efforts with the GWMA.  The bid specifications outlined the grant requirements, treatment system locations and work to be performed to  fulfill the construction aspects of the Proposition 84 grant.

On December 4, 2014, GWMA was awarded a Proposition 84 grant by the State Water Resources Control Board to implement Low Impact Development (LID) treatment systems along major transportation corridors.  The installation of these treatment systems is expected to decrease the loading of metals at multiple sites along the Los Angeles River, San Gabriel River, and Los Cerritos Channel. The cost for complete implementation of the grant is $1.34 million. Of this total amount, 80% was provided by the State Water Resources Control Board as part of the awarded grant, 20% was required (in matching funds) from the participating cities.
